Letter of Interest: Secure Rural Schools Act-Title III Funds
The Secure Rural Schools Act (SRS Act) was reauthorized by Public Law 115-141 and signed into law by the President on March 23, 2018. SRS defines authorized uses of Title III funds as:
- to carry out activities under the Firewise Communities program
- to reimburse the participating county for search and rescue and other emergency services, including firefighting and law enforcement patrols
- to cover training costs and equipment purchases directly related to the emergency service described in paragraph (2); and
- to develop and carry out community wildfire protection plans.
Park County has received $17,117.86 in Title III funding and is now accepting letters of interest from eligible organizations to be considered for distribution of these funds. The letter of interest should include information about the organization, the amount requested, and how the proposed project of the organization meets the requirements for use of these funds. Letters of interest and any other supporting organization documentation, including the most recent annual financial statements, should be sent to Park County, PO Box 1373, Fairplay, CO 80440 or .
