What can be done if a neighbor has a septic system that fails ?
Under Appendix L (Individual Sewage Disposal System Regulations) all residences are required to have septic systems. They are required to be maintained. Effluent is not allowed to come to the surface or be dumped onto the ground or waterways. These are considered serious violations. Depending on the severity property owners may be given a minimum of 24-hour notice to repair the problem. Please contact Code Enforcement to report incident.
