Park County, CO - The South Platte Ranger District and Pike-San Isabel National Forests have postponed the prescribed burn in Harris Park today due to low relative humidity. Crews are working on making control lines stronger and testing hoses and pumps. According to officials, tomorrow looks promising for implementation. Forest System Road 108 and Harris Park Shooting Range remain closed through the weekend.
Please see area map for exact location. Ignitions will likely begin tomorrow morning and finish before sunset. If the current forecast persists, burning will continue through Sunday. Smoke will be visible from many locations and could potentially settle in the Harris Park community, especially at night and in the early morning. It is expected to clear out each day.
Following ignitions, firefighters will be on scene 24-hours a day, continuously patrolling the control lines. Expect to see an increase in emergency vehicle traffic near the 108 road.
National Forest System Road 108 and adjoining forest service lands will be under mandatory closure through the weekend. This is necessary to maintain public and firefighter safety. Please avoid using this area until further notice.
