Park County, CO – Today the Board of County Commissioners adopted a proclamation acknowledging the month of May as Foster Care Month and bestowing the Park County Citizenship Award to Linda and Bill Johnson to honor their many years of service as foster parents.
May is National Foster Care Month which works to recognize the important role that members from all parts of child welfare play in supporting children, youth, and families. The Johnson’s contributions have been significant and notable over the past 35 years. They have served as a foster parents to over 60 foster children, 9 foreign exchange students and adoptive parents to 15 children over the years, including two grandchildren.
The Johnson’s will soon retire and the commissioners were honored to offer this special recognition to Linda and Bill for volunteering their talents and selflessly, opening their hearts and home to nurture at risk children and promote healing in their most desperate time of need.
