Maggie Long Homicide Investigation
December 1, 2017 Case 20171386

It comes with great sadness we report that human remains discovered in the burned home of the Long family have been positively identified as those of 17-year-old Maggie Long.

A Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force comprised of Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement Agencies has been formed for the sole purpose of bringing any individual involved in the Maggie Long homicide to justice. This Task Force will not rest until justice is obtained for Maggie and the Long family. All law enforcement resources available will be devoted to bringing this investigation to a successful outcome.

We would like the community to help us in this endeavor and ask that you reach out to us to report if you observed any suspicious vehicles, individuals, or activities along County Road 43 in Bailey on December 1, 2017, including any other information that you feel may be valuable to this investigation. Please immediately contact the investigative tip line at 303-239-4243.

At this time, due to ongoing activities in this case, the Sheriff’s Office will not comment on any details or status of the investigation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Long family. In the following weeks, we hope they may find strength from family, friends, and support of the community.
