The goals of this project were to restore two shallow water ponds to enhance marsh and open water habitat, improve important riparian habitat, foster partnerships within the community, and educate individuals about the benefits of habitat restoration.
The project involved design and reconstruction of inlets to shallow water ponds; installing a new head gate, culvert, and flume; clearing and repairing the existing ditch; and extracting and transplanting willows from the ditch. In addition, a riparian protection area was created by fencing the riparian area and developing a grazing management plan.
This project was funded in part by the Park County Land & Water Trust Fund.
