Johnson-Smith Ranch

River running through a grassy and brushy area

The 1818-acre Johnson/Smith Ranch was a high conservation  priority because of its scenic beauty and high quality wetlands.  Nearly five miles of Jefferson Creek meander through the Ranch, supporting an  extensive willow community that serves as an elk calving area  during spring.  The property also supports 15 rare plant species and  communities of interest, mostly related to its extensive wetlands.

Funding for the conservation easement was provided by Great Outdoors  Colorado, Park County Land and Water Trust Fund, and the Hillsdale Fund, Inc.
